God's Got You

January 13, 2018

Since the new year, I have been waking up every morning with great expectation and anticipation of what is in store for my family and Renewed Spirit Home. I feel strongly that we are entering a new season. Not only can I feel it in my spirit, but the Lord has been showering us with one "suddenly" after another. (Refer to my blog entry "Suddenly" for a better understanding.)

"The hope of the righteous brings joy" Proverbs 10:28

Shortly after we had our third son, Josiah, our second family car began to have problems. In one week's time, the A/C went out, we noticed it was leaking oil and of one of the windows wouldn't stay rolled up. I am not exaggerating, this all happened in the same week. It was the middle of summer here in Arizona so without A/C and a faulty window, it wasn't safe to drive.  My husband brought it into the shop and the estimate to fix everything was impossible for us to manage. So for months, we operated on one vehicle, with my husband having to drive to and from work more than once a day in order to pick up my son from preschool on time.

"You will be rewarded for this; your hope will not be disappointed." Proverbs 23:18

One Sunday afternoon I received a phone call from a man I had never met but seemed to know me or at least know of my family and a bit about our circumstances. This in itself had me confused as we hadn't really shared much about our personal struggles with anyone. He introduced himself and let me know that he was the CEO of a nonprofit organization, Moving4ward. He went on to explain that someone had contacted him, asking to be kept anonymous but wanting to bless us with a car. He said, "I have a donated 2001 Suburban that was meant for your family."

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." Philippians 4:6

My husband felt led by God to take a position with an organization that serves homeless individuals, families, and youth, in different capacities. Taking this position, however, meant taking a pay cut. I knew the Lord was calling him to take the position because He was speaking to me just as He was speaking to my husband. I was scared but we prayed about it and ultimately decided that being obedient to God was the right thing to do. In the weeks, and months that followed, we got hit with a number of unexpected financial blows. We questioned God, we questioned our decision, our faith, and our future. We were struggling, scared, and felt helpless. All we could do was pray. So we did.

"Call to me and I will answer you" Jeremiah 33:3

God heard our prayers and He has been faithful. During the past couple of months, we have received provision from unexpected people and places. Family and friends have reached out, all saying the same thing, "God put you on my heart." Again, my husband and I do not share our struggles with many. Maybe one or two close confidants but this was something more divine. On more than one occasion, we were handed envelopes or gift cards with the person delivering saying, "Someone asked me to give you this. They asked to be kept anonymous."

"And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work." 2 Corinthians 9:8

My husband and I have entered this new year, this new season in complete awe. This season has been in many ways the most difficult of our married life together. It has also been the most miraculous and by far, the most faith provoking season of our lives.

"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast." Ephesians 2:8-9

One of the phrases that we've heard a number of times, from a number of different people is, "God's got you." I've held onto those three little words, sometimes for dear life, throughout this season. I am entering this new year, this new season knowing, without a doubt, that yes, God's got me.

Sisters and brothers, God's got you.

With Love,

Stacey
