As I’ve grown in my walk with God, I’ve become more aware of when He is speaking to me, directing my steps and giving me direction. The fact that I hear Him more clearly doesn’t mean that I always confidently and quickly obey, at least not initially. It’s not because I’m rebellious, in most cases, it’s because I’m afraid.
The Lord’s ways are not our ways and even though I am confident that His plans for my life are much greater than I could ever fathom, the journey often means taking small steps in faith or huge leaps and bounds in faith. Even the small steps take great courage sometimes and like all of us, I would prefer to stay in my comfort zone.
Anyone that knows me, knows that I thrive when I know what to expect, and when things are structured and consistent. I don’t like feeling vulnerable, out of control or powerless. It makes me uncomfortable when I have to put my trust in someone or something else. You can imagine how anxious I get when all of the sudden, the Lord says, “Trust me.”
Usually when I clearly hear these words or He directs me to scripture with this message, I know He’s about to stretch my faith by asking me to trust Him even when I’m scared, when things seem impossible, when others don’t understand or agree or when I’m in the midst of a trial.
Truth be told, the process of being molded, matured and renewed has not always been easy but it has always been for my good. I can say that now because I’m able to look back and see how far I’ve come and how the Lord has blessed me in so many ways because I had the courage to give up the reigns and allow Him to work in my life.
This new adventure I’m on is no exception. Refinishing furniture, blogging, sharing, networking, multiple social media platforms – it is all very new to me and I’m learning as I go. I’m terrified, excited, overwhelmed and overjoyed. There are days that I’m like “What the heck are you doing? You are way out of your league!,” and the enemy starts filling my mind with lies and doubt but the Lord continues to give me direction and encouragement through friends, family, strangers and in other ways that are quite miraculous.
I know that with God all things are possilbIe. I'm putting my dreams and desires in His hands and letting go of the reigns, trusting Him to do more than I could ever think or imagine. I look forward to sharing this journey with all of you and want to thank you for taking this first step with me.
"Now to him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us," Ephesians 3:20
