Try it my Way

While praying and talking to the Lord about things in my life that I was worried and anxious about, I heard the Lord clearly say, “Try it my way.”

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD. Isaiah 55:8

After hearing these four little words, I sat in silence and meditated on them. It didn’t take me long to recognize that there were many things in my life that I hadn’t yet surrendered to Him. Those were the very things that I was worrying about and asking Him to help me and guide me with. But how can He help me if I don’t allow Him to?

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

I once listened to a sermon where the pastor’s message was about worry. He said that worry was designed to bring attention to something that we haven’t surrendered to God.

That pastor was absolutely right.

“Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” 1 Peter 5:7

When I do not surrender parts of my life to God, I worry about them. I worry about them because I am trying to figure out how to work things out in my own power. In most cases, this is impossible. I need Him, His guidance, His intervention, His grace and His mercy in all areas of my life. If I rely on my own strength, wisdom and resources then I am limited to just that and without Him, that will never be enough.

“Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.” Psalm 55:22

When I surrender all areas of my life to Him, He does the most miraculous things. I am truly in awe of the blessings He bestows on me, both small and beyond measure.

“When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them.” Psalm 91:15

I’m so thankful and humbled that He loves me enough to take care of all of my needs and give me the desires of my heart simply because He loves me. I am grateful to Him that He gave me worry as a reminder that there is something that I need to surrender to Him.

“Then call on me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory." Psalm 50:15

In His word, He promises that when I surrender to Him, He will deliver me. This is a promise for all of His children.

With Love,

Stacey
